A welcome with a local naturalist
On your first evening, a drink in hand while someone who truly knows Tobago talks you into the island, its wildlife, its rhythm. The week begins gently.
One week, fully planned, from your front door to Bacolet Bay and back.
All-inclusive, door to door. Secure your week with just €660 today, the rest in easy instalments before you travel.
Tobago is the hidden gem of Trinidad & Tobago, a lush island in the southern Caribbean, far from the crowded resort strips. Rainforest hills (home to the oldest protected rainforest in the Western Hemisphere, since 1776), coral reefs, hidden waterfalls, and some of the Caribbean's most beautiful, near-empty beaches. Warm all year, and reachable from Europe on a single flight.
A historic boutique hotel on Bacolet Bay, wrapped on three sides by the sea, the very shore woven into the legend of Robinson Crusoe. Fifty-one ocean-view rooms in a lovingly restored heritage building, and a terrace above the bay where the welcomes and dinners unfold.
Blue Haven's story, as told in TF1's “50′ Inside” documentary.
Long before it was Premura's home, Blue Haven was the Caribbean's most glamorous secret, built within an 18th-century fortress on Bacolet Bay, and in the 1950s the most coveted address on the island.
The hotel rises from a Georgian-era fortress whose ramparts and cannons, once guarding the harbour through colonial battles, still watch over the bay.
In the 1950s it built the first, and largest, swimming pool in the southern Caribbean, and became the island's most glamorous address.
Rita Hayworth and Robert Mitchum escaped here. You can still stay in the Rita Hayworth Suite, named for the room she loved.
Princess Margaret spent her honeymoon here, and Queen Elizabeth held receptions when Tobago was still British.
John Lennon and Ringo Starr are among the names written into its guest book.
By the latitude in Defoe's novel, the beach below is said to be where Robinson Crusoe washed ashore, and Disney filmed Swiss Family Robinson here in 1960.
As told in TF1's “50′ Inside” documentary, watch it above.
We've sought out the rainforest worth the early start, the cocoa estate, the food huts only locals know, the bay you can only reach by boat, and woven them into one themed week. You experience the island, not the resort, like someone who lives there, with nothing to research or arrange.
Mornings in the oldest rainforest in the western hemisphere, hummingbirds at your hand and a waterfall to swim in.
The island on a plate, a cocoa estate, the food huts only locals know, and curry crab with your fingers.
Steel pan at sunset, dancers after dark, a heritage you can hear.
A day under sail to a bay you can only reach by boat, and the Nylon Pool to float in.
Unhurried days, the spa, the beach, a court when you feel like it.
